Site Build It! vs. WordPress

Home >> Before You Build

There are many different ways to build a website, but in this article I will talk about two that I have used:

1) Buy a domain and a web hosting plan @ WebsitePalace.com, then create a WordPress site. WordPress is becoming THE go-to option worldwide.

Once you have your web hosting account, simple login and choose WordPress. The script will be installed and you're off and running.

If you choose option #1, no doubt you will save money, but you are completely on your own when it comes to learning how to build and promote your site.

Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Many people do it on their own with the help of all the tutorials online.

Also, all Website Palace customers will get my up-to-date WordPress eBook (PDF) for free. (The free download is on the order confirmation page.)

Or...

2) Buy Site Build It!

If you go with Site Build It!, you will receive step-by-step advice, a video action guide, site builder, and access to their TNT (Tips and Techniques) section that will give you ideas for marketing your website.

Times Have Changed

Now, having said all that, I want to be honest with you about my own Site Build It! site, Flat Stomach Exercises.com.

When I bought SBI! in 2005, times were a lot different. It was much easier to rank a site in the search engines than it is today and building traffic from Google was fairly easy.

Today, it's a lot different. Whether you use WordPress or Site Build It!, it takes a lot of work to build traffic.

Plus, that site gets most of its traffic from Google. In 2005, that was fine. But today, you need to diversify your traffic like I've done with this site and get traffic from YouTube, Facebook, email marketing and more.

This website you're reading now (not using SBI!) generates business in so many different ways (not just Google traffic) and that's the way you have to do it today. I was never interested enough in the flat stomach niche to ever develop that site beyond what I did.

My SBI! site still makes a nice profit from Google ads, Clickbank and other affiliate programs. That's why I keep paying for it and leave it up. But it doesn't make nearly as much as it used to.

Part of that is because of all the Google changes, but the bigger reason is I no longer work on the site anymore. (I lost interest back in 2009 and stopped updating it.)

Google likes fresh content. You can't just put up a website and forget it like I did with my SBI! site years ago. You have to continue to work on it, and you also need to learn to diversify your traffic like I have done with my 2 Create a Website business.

In my opinon, Site Build It! customers seem to be focused more on building search engine traffic and you need to do more than that today because getting Google traffic is a lot more challenging.

So the argument is, why not learn on your own, save the money and go with WordPress?

I just got an email about this page so I added this note. I used to be an affiliate for Site Build It! and made a lot of money promoting their products over the years. But since their system no longer works as well as it used to, I actively stopped promoting SBI! on this site in 2013. I removed the affiliate links in this post when I stopped promoting them. The reason this page is still here is because it gets some search traffic so I didn't want to completely delete it. But as you see on my hosting page, I only recommend WordPress now.

Which is Better SBI! or Standard (WordPress) Hosting?

WordPress has the better template designs hands down, but SBI! has a hand-holding approach to building your site.

You can be successful with either. The question is, What is the best value?

If you want to save a lot of money and learn to build on your own, then go with standard hosting and choose WordPress. You'll have access to great templates and WordPress is what most people use these days.

However, if you need more step-by-step guidance, don't want to worry about learning WordPress, and would like more guidance then go with SBI!. Just remember what I said above.

Yes, they offer more help with building your site, but their traffic building help is so-so now that Google has made so many changes. Not as many succeed with SBI! as they did before.

Either choice will require a lot of work and dedication and SBI! has a 90-day money-back guarantee.

Learn more about SBI! here.

I do believe SBI! is still something to consider, but since it's more expensive than WordPress, it comes with a higher risk now that ranking a website is more challenging.

I left the recommendation here because it can still work, but it's not as useful as it used to be.

If you follow their "Tips and Techniques" advice on using social media, you can have success. But DON'T BUY IT if all you're going to do is sit and write content while waiting for Google to rank you. That doesn't work anymore.
