When you hear someone recommend WordPress for creating a website, it’s a natural reflex to go to WordPress.com, right?
But here’s why you shouldn’t.
WordPress.com is a 100% free blogging platform, but it’s NOT for business/money-making sites and more importantly, you CANNOT install plugins.
And when I say you cannot use it for business, it is AGAINST THEIR TERMS to try and monetize your website with the free platform.
As far as plugins, they are what make your site dynamic, and it’s how you add functionality like shopping carts, forums, membership sites and more.
How to Get The Right Version of WordPress
When you sign up for a hosting plan, the version of WordPress that comes with your hosting account is the .org version.
This will give you full control over your site, and you’ll be able to monetize it, add plugins and do anything you want.
So don’t be fooled! There’s a BIG difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
